Click here for video highlights of the evening. Click here for article from the New Zealand Herald. Auckland City Mayoral candidates answered the following questions: 1. The new Auckland Council will represent over a quarter of New Zealand's population, approximately one third of whom are playing organised sport. What is your position on the importance of sport in the community and what key policies would you support in relation to sport? 2. The delivery of sport is limited by a shortage of playing facilities and the costs of participation. What do you see as the key issues in this area and what are your solutions? 3. Councils are the major contributors to funding of sports infra-structure. Over time the delivery of sport has changed, such as the surfaces sport is played on, where and when it is played to meet community needs. Historical council funding policy no longer provides equitable funding support across the range of sporting requirements. What would you do to remedy this situation? Decide who to vote for.
