Membership

The North Harbour Sports Council is a collaboration of regional sporting organisations from the North Harbour region.
 
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the North Harbour Sports Council (NHSC) is to:
  • Strengthen engagement between the North Shore City Council and sport;
  • Build sport organisations’ knowledge of the North Shore City Council processes; and
  • Build the North Shore City Council’s knowledge of the needs of sport and how they can best be met.

 OUTCOMES:
  • Ensure a perspective on sport is provided to the North Shore City Council on a range of issues covered by the North Shore City Council as well as issues directly related to sport;
  • Ensure that the views of sport are canvassed and conveyed to the North Shore City Council including providing advice on or assistance with formal consultations that are being undertaken; and
  • Provide advice to the North Shore City Council on matters of planning and infrastructure (especially if they have a direct impact on sport) and provide input on matters relating to policy and strategic development.

The NHSC Executive represents member sports organisations to engage with the North Shore City Council.
 
The NHSC does not remove or reduce the North Shore City Council’s responsibilities to obtain input from other sport groups through other means.

 
MEMBERSHIP OF NHSC:
Open to all regional sporting organisations or clubs that act as the regional body,  to be confirmed by the NHSC Executive, that represent members in the North Harbour region.
