Iwi Of Origin

Harbour Sport have been hosts of an inter-iwi Maori sports competition called the “Iwi of Origin”.  This event has been held in Northcote on the North Shore and has had up to 900 people attending with sports such as touch, netball, waka ama, tug of war, amazing race and hikoi  being played.  The aims of this event are to engage urban Maori in sport, to promote Maori Sport organisations, to celebrate Maori participation in sport, and to celebrate Iwitanga.

Harbour Sport will be handing the coordination of the event to Counties Manukau Sport in 2010 in an effort to allow other organisations to contribute to the event.
