Push Play Neighbourhoods - Warkworth and Wellsford

With Push Play Neighbourhoods underway in Warkworth and Wellsford, September was a chance to get some community representatives from Mahurangi East together to look at unique ways to encourage physical activity in this community.

A meeting was held to have an initial brainstorm around what is currently available in the region and who may be key groups and individuals to involve in the project.

There are two coordinators sharing this neighbourhood project, Warkworth coordinator Bridget Farmiloe and Wellsford coordinator Julie Knott are combining forces to work in Mahurangi East.

“We are aware that many people in this area also have strong ties to Warkworth but we are keen to work with the local community to develop some activities specific to Mahurangi East. There is also potential to offer some fun events for visitors to Snells Beach to participate in” say Bridget and Julie.

Plans for the future include pram walking, weekend or evening walking, tennis for Mums with small children and a Have A Go event to raise the profile of the project. If you would like to be involved in the project or any of its activities, call Bridget or Julie on the details below.
