Push Play Neighbourhoods

Push Play Neighbourhoods

Push Play Neighbourhoods is the result of a collaborative application to the SPARC Active Communities fund. The main objective of the application is to address the health and wellbeing needs of rural communities in the Rodney District of our region through and increase physical activity and sport.

The Push Play Neighbourhood model of working is based on a community development model, where ‘collective’ groups are established within a particular community. These collectives are like minded community members, groups and services who are interested in improving health and wellbeing through participation in sport and physical activity.

This project aims to develop Push Play Neighbourhoods in four Rodney communities of South Kaipara, Wellsford, Warkworth and Mahurangi East.

We work in close partnership with the Local Primary Health Organisations, Harbour Health and Coast to Coast to capitalise on their local knowledge and community expertise.

Three Push Play Co-ordinators have been appointed to work closely within each Neighbourhood to establish and co-ordinate a collective community group.
