Special Olympics North Harbour
is a unique, multi-sports club on the Shore which provides weekly sport coaching, training and frequent competitive events for people with an intellectual disability.
 
The club offers a range of sports to serve a wide range of ability and fitness levels and provides social interaction and opportunities, team spirit, self-esteem, personal growth – and enjoyment.
Teenagers to 60+, across a wide ability range.
The emphasis is on:

  • Participation for people of all ability levels
  • Regular coaching, training and competition for all
  • Achieving personal best performances
 
Nine sports
Athletics, Basketball, Football, Golf, Indoor Bowls, Powerlifting,
Swimming, Tenpin Bowling and Snowsports.

On Sunday 3rd September, Special Olympics North Harbour held a ribbon day at Takapuna Aquatics Centre.
This is an Annual event with swimmers from Special Olyumpics clubs from Whangarei to Te Awamutu.

Kenny Halliday, Sport Capability Team Leader, was on hand to help award the ribbons.
